Refractive index, birefringence,
specific gravity, pleochroism,

FAQs
Q:
What is the difference between natural,
synthetic, and treatment‑enhanced gemstones?
A:
Natural gems are those formed in nature
without human intervention.
Synthetic stones are lab‑grown but have
the same chemical, physical, and optical
properties as their natural counterparts.
Treatment‑enhanced stones are natural
gems that have been treated (heat‑treatment,
irradiation, filling, coating etc.) to
improve their appearance. We identify all
these.
Q:
Can you determine the origin of any
gemstone?
A: Origin determination depends on the gem
species and available scientific data. For
some gems (like ruby, sapphire, emerald),
certain inclusions, trace elements, growth
patterns are indicative of certain regions.
But origin reports are given only when
scientifically justifiable.
Q:
Is mounted jewelry harder to evaluate than
loose stones?
A: Yes. Mounting can obstruct access to some
surfaces, hide inclusions, or affect the way
light interacts with the stone. We do our
best, but some limitations exist when gems
are set.
Q:
How do I care for my gemstones after
purchase or certification?
A: Every gemstone has its own care needs.
Avoid harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners
for certain stones (emerald, opal, etc.),
avoid extreme heat, store separately to
avoid scratching. We provide care guidelines
with each report.
Q: Do you accept stones from outside
Jharkhand / India?
A: Yes. As long as shipping is secure and
legal, you can send your gems. We can also
assist with export documentation if
required.
